After you have completed your light vortext, its time to start searching for some substance for your image. We wont be using any 3d programs in this tutorial, so stock photos will have to do! I simply serached http://www.sxc.hu/ for "city" and grabbed the image below.
Past your substance image above your light vortext layer, and use the eraser tool to erase the left side of the image to reveal the light below.
Create a new layer, and change the layer mode to "color." Depending on what color you want your image to be, create a gradient of two pleasing colors and fill your color layer.
Mege your layers by choosing Layer > Flatten Image. Now adjust the brightness and contrast a bit to give our iamge some depth. Go to Image > Adjust > Brightness Contrast. Increase the contrast.
Now lets take another photo and blend it in, I serached stockxch for "sky" and grabbed the image below.
Past your image onto your canvas, and change the layer mode to "hard light." Lower the brightness a bit and increase the contrast.
Add some text to your image. I used font "Square721 BT" color white. Stroke your text with 2px of black. To do this Ctrl-click your text layer to make your selection. Create a new layer above your text layer, and choose Edit > Stroke.
Add a border to your image. This is a very horizontal piece, so I chose to only border the top and the bottom.
Create a new layer below your text layer, and use your paintbrush tool to create some wavy lives.
Duplicate your wavy lines layer, and blurr the original layer by choosing Filter > Blurr > Gaussian Blur. Choose a value that suits the size of your image.
Use the smudge tool to fade out edges of your "wavy lines" layer that do not continue off the screen.
Use your paintbrush tool again, and add small dots eminating from the center of your light vortext. Use different size brushes to increase the variation.
Next I used my eraser tool to fade off the wavy lines we created earier. We want the light to feel more powerful as it gets closer to our text.
Next naviated back to our original layer, the one we merged earlier, and made a selection shown below. Feather your selection by 20 pixels by choosing Select > Feather and entering a value of 20. Next apply plastic wrap filter by choosing Filter > Artistic > Plastic Wrap.
Finish your title by adding whatever text (website url, slogan, etc) and your done!. Here is how mine turned out.
Hope you enjoy it & learn something new from this tutorial.
